Registration Council of Speech-Language Pathologists

COMPETENT AUTHORITY FOR THE REGISTRATION AND LICENCING OF SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS IN CYPRUS

According to Article 3 of the Registration of Speech-Language Pathologists Law (L136(Ι)/2001), published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus No. 3549 on 23 November 2001, the competent authority for the registration and licensing of speech-language pathologists in Cyprus is the Registration Council of Speech-Language Pathologists.

The Registration Council has a two-year term of office and consists of three registered speech-language pathologists, appointed by the Council of Ministers, holding a position in the civil service of the Republic. Out of the three speech-language pathologists, one comes from the Ministry of Health and one from the Ministry of Education and Culture, both of which are nominated by the competent Minister.

The General Assembly of the Cyprus Association of Speech-Language Pathologists elects and nominates four other members who are required to be registered speech-language pathologists.

One of the members is elected as Chair of the Council. The first Registration Council of Speech-Language Pathologists was appointed on 24.9.2003.
